- Joy Ike - In Concert - 8:00 pm-10:30 pm
Singer/songwriter Joy Ike has found herself in the most unexpected of places – living and performing as a full-time touring musician. If you had asked her 5 years ago where she thought she’d be in 2010, her honest answer would have been, “Ummm…I dunno”. But the new decade has dealt Ike some interesting surprises…including being voted Pittsburgh City Paper’s Best Solo Artist for the second year in a row, opening for a number of national touring acts, playing at Philadelphia’s Lilith Fair, and a recent write-up and radio spot on NPR’s (National Public Radio) All Things Considered.
Her fans have compared her vocally to Corinne Bailey Rae and Norah Jones, stylistically to Fiona Apple and Laura Nyro, and have said that her ambiance is much like that of India Aire and Lizz Wright. “Honestly”, she says, “I don’t really spend much time listening to any of the above.” She credits much of her musical influence to more modern acts including her two favorite female artists Sara Groves and Brooke Waggoner, and independent artists Aqualung, Death Cab for Cutie, and Sufjan Stevens. “I really just love soul music and I think soul music has less to do with how a song sounds and more to do with the emotion behind it. I think that’s why these artists mean so much to me.”
Ike’s music has continually been noted for its lyrical depth- addressing the human condition, thoughts on love, and the search for God in a very tangible way. Standing Stone Coffee welcomes her back for a 3rd show, because we just can’t get enough. Learn more about Joy at www.joyike.com.

- Krista Hammaker - In Concert - 7:30 pm-10:00 pm
In the fall of 2009 Juniata held a Battle the Bands on campus. Many groups and individuals competed for the honoring prize of being the best performers on campus. Along with that an additional prize was the opportunity to play a live show at Standing Stone Coffee. The first place winners were a heavy metal group that didn’t really feel their style would fit at the shop. So they passed that opportunity on to Krista, the 2nd place winner. In March 2010 we hosted her at the shop. Almost immediately we were set in awe by her warming voice and giftedness on guitar. As we listened more we were impressed with her depth and thoughtfulness in her song choices and lyrical writing. We knew we wanted her back. So, join us for another enjoyable night of Krista and some of her JC friends.

- Cameron Blake - In Concert - 7:30 pm-10:00 pm
For Blake, growing up in rural Michigan meant dealing with lots of snow, cattle farms fumigating the air, and time spent with trees, grass, and creeks. Some might call these his "folk" roots. However, Cameron was also listening to his parents’ records of classical music and developing tastes for composers such as Bartok, Prokofiev, and Debussy. He took a liking to the violin at the age of 12, practiced really hard, and eventually received a Master’s degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music.
While at the conservatory, Blake lost himself in the guts and glamour of Baltimore city. He knew he needed a change of artistic landscape; he stumbled across the music of Bob Dylan, which became a major source of inspiration. Like his new found hero, Cameron quickly taught himself how to sing, play the piano and guitar, and began writing songs.
In 2007, he formed a band and has since written and recorded two albums: Over and Over (2008) and En Route (2009). Both received positive reviews and as one writer described it “managed to work a perfect balance of folk, pop and rock with profound lyrics that have a deeper meaning than your run of the mill love song” (Revue Magazine). En Route was selected by Tinderbox Music for a national college radio campaign, receiving heavy airplay and its single “On My Way to Jordan” took 1st place in folk on ourstage.com. The album’s other single “Fit Right In” was recently set to a music video directed by local filmmaker Michael Faulkner.
The artistry and charisma of Cameron’s live performances have enabled him to perform in numerous venues throughout the East Coast, Texas, Michigan, Paris, France, and now Huntingdon, PA. www.cameronblakemusic.com

This show is not to be missed!
Ameranouche formed in 2004 and has played venues from the prestigious JVC Newport Jazz Festival and Djangofest Northwest, to busking and club gigs throughout New England, the Mid Atlantic and the South, including tours through Midwest and Southern regions. This award winning trio features the melodic virtuosity of guitarist Richard Sheppard, the vehement rhythm chops of guitarist Ryan Flaherty and the dulcet low end of upright bassist Xar Adelberg. Together, this rip-roaring ensemble is a super force of hot acoustic jazz, sometimes referred to as hot swing or Gypsy jazz. The contrast of other influences like American Soul music, Flamenco and Bop are what give the fast fingered trio such a recognizable sound. All played on acoustic instruments, the music is rhythmic, vigorous and strangely elegant. It’s hard to believe only three people are creating such a big sound. Check them out at www.ameranouche.com.

- Christmas Party w/The Beggar Folk - 7:30 pm-9:30 pm
The Beggar Folk are Josh and Trista Lamb, a band of folk singer-songwriters from Lancaster, Pa. Their music is mellow and intimate—finger-picking, warm harmonies, and thoughtful lyrics. Their distinct blend of modern folk+old country lends a natural avenue to their strong storytelling and minimalist roots. Classically trained and seasoned instrumentalists, recent additions Taylor Brandt & Meredith Shaub (violins) & Allison Farris (cello) bring new depth to The Beggar Folk's emotionally driven writings. Their ability to personally connect with each song and translate lyrics to strings is both rare and highly moving. After a 7 month stint of living in Egypt, Josh and Trista just moved to PA this past June and have been spending their days writing, performing, networking and enjoying the beauty of all that Lancaster has to offer.
